  • Notes
    • At the age of 19, Hiram enlisted for three years, August 12,1862, as a Private, at Cleveland, Ohio. At that time he was a 19 year-old farmer,in Bedford, Ohio. He was 5 ft 11 in. in height, with dark complection, gray eyes and black hair.

On September 17, 1862, he was mustered into Co D,103rd Ohio Infantry. He was captured in action on May 1, 1864. He was exchanged after 10 months (March 1,1865),and died 15(sic)days later. (about March 16) His burial date, as Hiram W.Glasier, in Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, Ohio, was March 14,1865. It also names him as Captain.,Co D, 103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. (Bedford Cemetery record)

Wilmington National Cemetery has Hiram M. Glasier buried there, in Section 8, Grave #1616. A military headstone reads: 1616 H.M. GLASIER OHIO. Probably he is actually buried in Wilmington, and the stone in Bedford, Ohio, cemetery is a memorial stone. Still, there is a discrepancy in the report of death & burial dates.
